MATERIALS NEEDED:
1) toilet paper roll
2) cardboard or construction paper
3) paint if not using colored paper
4) tape or glue
5) scissors
STEP ONE:
First decide if you feel comfortable drawing the wings and other items by hand. If not, then go here for a printable template.
Also, decide if you want to paint your bird or would rather use colored paper.
STEP TWO:
Draw or trace (using template) your wings, tail feathers, feet, beak, and eyes. I chose to use a cereal box so that the whole bird would be madeout of recycled materials because, why not?
STEP THREE:
Paint the wings. body, and tail separately. Paint the eyes directly onto the roll.
If you are using colored paper then you can either wrap brown construction paper around the roll or leave it as-is, since it's already brown. Then glue the eyes on.
STEP FOUR:
This part is not recommended for young children. Cut slits in the sides of the roll and cut a small slit centered directly below the two eyes.
STEP FIVE:
Insert the wings and beak into the slots. The feet and tail can be glued or taped to the inside of the roll.
